This No Bake Pumpkin Dip is sure to be the hit at your next Fall Harvest or Halloween party! Light and fluffy pumpkin flavored dip that is great to serve with cinnamon graham crackers, ginger snaps, apple slices, vanilla wafers and more!
But the best part of all, it only requires 4 ingredients to make and no baking is involved! And who couldn’t use a quick and easy appetizer recipe that everyone loves?
It is a great recipe to make and share at tailgate parties, Fall weiner roasts, and of course on Beggar’s night. It makes enough dip that everyone can enjoy a little taste of sweet pumpkin without a lot of effort.
Although I love everything pumpkin this time of the year, sometimes a quick and easy recipe is not only needed, but much appreciated. When I have time I love to make traditional Pumpkin Cookies, Pumpkin Rolls, and Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Filling.
However, there are times when I make easier recipes that don’t require a lot of time or ingredients, like 2 Ingredient Pumpkin Cookies, Pumpkin Cake, and this No Bake Pumpkin Dip. However, I never imagined how often I would make this dip recipe.
As soon as October rolls around, I make it about every weekend. We have it on the table during football games, when we have friends over for game night, and when we go to events where we need to bring a dessert or appetizer.
It now has also earned a place at our extended family Thanksgiving dinner celebration. And every year I get asked to make it over and over again.

No Bake Pumpkin Dip Recipe
*Specific measurements and complete recipe instructions are located in a printable recipe card at the bottom of this article. However, be sure to continue to read the tips and tricks to making this recipe below.
INGREDIENTS
- 15 ounce can pumpkin puree*
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1/2 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 16 ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
Recommended Serving Ingredients
- cinnamon graham crackers
- cinnamon sugar pita chips
- ginger snaps
- thin oreos
- vanilla wafers
- apple slices
*Be sure to use a can of pumpkin puree, and not pumpkin pie filling. Although these two products looks similar in the can these two products are not interchangeable.
Although the can says 100% pure pumpkin puree it is actually cooked and pureed winter squash. However, this is what you want to purchase.
Pumpkin pie filling is made by mixing together pumpkin puree with sugar and spices. It is much thinner than pumpkin puree and would not work well in this recipe.
Therefore, when you head to the grocery store be sure to double check to make sure the can says pumpkin puree and not pie filling. It is easy to make the mistake of grabbing the wrong can as they are often placed next to each other at the grocery.
Homemade Pumpkin Puree
And by all means, if you have made your own pumpkin puree from a pie pumpkin, you can definitely use that as well.
However, homemade pumpkin puree contains a lot of liquid. Therefore, it will need to drain before adding it to the no bake pumpkin dip recipe.
Do this by placing the pureed pumpkin in the center of a tea towel. Then gather up the sides and ring out any excess moisture.
You will be shocked at how much liquid comes out. Continue to ring the towel several more times until no liquid is able to be squeezed out.
Then use 1 3/4 cup to replace the can of store bought pure pumpkin puree.
INSTRUCTIONS
To make the pumpkin dip, place the pumpkin puree, vanilla pudding mix, and pumpkin pie spice in a large mixing bowl. Use a silicone spatula to stir until the no bake pumpkin dip mixture is well incorporated.
Although it is easy to mix the ingredients by hand, if you prefer, you can use a hand beater or a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment for this step. I prefer to mix it by hand because that is one less dish I have to wash.
Fold In The Whipped Topping
Next, fold the whipped topping into the mixture until evenly combined. Be sure that he whipped topping is thawed out completely prior to adding it to the mixture.
This step will take a little effort. At first it will seem like the ingredients are not mixing together very well. However, give it a few minutes and you will see that the white whipped topping starts to turn pale orange in color.
Keep mixing until the dip is uniform in color and no clumps of pumpkin are visible. Then transfer the no bake pumpkin dip into a large serving bowl or a carved out pie pumpkin and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
