Air Fryer Green Beans – Made From Fresh or Frozen Green Beans

Making green beans in an air fryer is extremely easy. Simply toss the beans in oil, then season them with a few basic spices and throw them in the basket of your air fryer.

And in just a few minutes you will have a perfectly cooked side dish that is great to serve at lunch or dinner.

This is the perfect recipe for those that have an abundance of fresh picked green beans from the garden or Farmer’s market.

However, don’t worry, you can also make them with frozen green beans. It will take a little longer, but the flavor is still amazing!

Why You Should Make Green Beans In The Air Fryer

Cooking in an air fryer is our preferred method of cooking in the middle of summer. After spending time in the hot sun picking the ripe green beans out of the garden, the last thing I want to do is to stand over a hot stove or grill.

And because I like the taste of oven-roasted and pan-seared green beans, I Iove both the taste and texture when they are made in my Ninja Foodi Air Crisper.

They turn out tender, yet slightly crisp, and have a delicious grilled flavor. Although they can become super tender and pliable if you leave them in to cook longer.

That is the beauty of cooking them in the air fryer. You can cook them until they have reached your desired tenderness.

And because they are easy to remove, you can take some out if others like them more crisp. Then allow the others to cook longer to get more tender for those that prefer that texture.

Air Fryer Green Beans Recipe

Ingredients

Fresh green beans
Olive oil
Garlic powder
Kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper
Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

The first step in making air fryer green beans is to wash and trim the ends off. Be sure to also cut off and discard any bad spots as well.

Then cut the green beans to desired length or leave them whole. The choice is up to you and has no effect on the cooking time required.

Once the green beans are prepared add them to a large bowl. Then drizzle the olive oil on top and toss to coat.

Next, sprinkle the garlic powder, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes (if using) on top. Use tongs to coat the green beans with the seasoning.

Although this is our favorite combination of seasonings for the green beans, feel free to add or change the seasonings as you prefer. Sometimes I will add a little Cajun or Creole seasoning to give the green beans a little kick.

Once the green beans are oiled and seasoned place them in the basket of the air fryer. Cook for 8-9 minutes, tossing the green beans half way through the cooking time.

As always the cook time can vary depending on the make and model of your air fryer. Keep a close eye on them at the 7 minute mark and adjust the time accordingly.

Once they are cooked to desired tenderness, use tongs to remove the green beans from the basket and serve immediately.

Frozen Green Beans Air Fryer Instructions

Many people have asked if you can cook frozen green beans in the air fryer. And the answer is yes!

Simply toss them in the oil and season as you would for the fresh green beans. Although you will keep the same cooking temperature, you will need to double the cooking time in order for them to be cooked through.
