Making fudge doesn’t have to be complicated with this easy fudge recipe.

However, now comes the hard part. You have to wait until the fudge sets and hardens before trying a piece! But believe me, the wait is worth it!

As much as we love to bake a variety of cookies for the holidays, there are just sometimes that you need an easy to make, quick and delicious recipe to share with your family and friends.

And that is where this recipe comes in handy! I have added bite size pieces of this creamy easy fudge to Christmas cookie trays, tins and as edible gifts for coworkers, teachers, service workers and more!

Three Ingredients Required To Make Fudge

1. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – When making this easy 3 ingredient fudge recipe, the chocolate flavor comes from semi-sweet chocolate chips. Although the cocao content is slightly lower when compared to bittersweet chocolate chips, the sweeter flavor is preferred when making fudge.

2. Butter: Butter is used to help a create a smooth and creamy texture in fudge. However it also helps to bind the ingredients in fudge together, making it less likely to crumble or fall apart.

Although, be sure to use unsalted butter. Otherwise the fudge may turn out too salty for some individuals who are sensitive to the flavor of salt.

3. Sweetened Condensed Milk: To gain that classic sweet flavor found in traditional fudge sweetened condensed milk is used as one of the three ingredients in this fudge recipe. However, be sure to use sweetened condensed milk and not evaporated milk.

Although the two products are often stored next to each other on the grocery store shelves, the two products are not interchangeable. Sweetened condensed is made by milk being heated and then sweetened with sugar.

It has a thick consistency and naturally has a slight caramel flavor. Evaporated milk, on the other hand, is unsweetened and has a thinner consistency.

Therefore, when it comes to making fudge that turns out perfect, you must use sweetened condensed milk. Once you have all the ingredients combined all that is left to do is put them in a dish to harden.

How To Line A Square or Rectangular Dish With Parchment Paper

However, to make it easy to remove and cut the fudge into individual pieces it is best to use a dish that has been lined with parchment paper that overhangs on at least on two sides. This will allow you to easily remove the hardened brick of fudge from the dish and place it on a cutting board before cutting into squares.

Although, if you have ever tried to line a square or rectangle dish with parchment paper it can be very frustrating to get the corners to lay down smoothly. However, I have found an easy way to line a square or rectangle pan with parchment paper.

Step 1: Tear off a piece of parchment paper that is 8 inches longer than the length of your pan.

Step 2: Then place your pan on top of the parchment paper length-ways. With the pan still in place cut each corner, length and width wise to the corner of the pan. Remove and discard the 4 cut out corners.

Step 3: Spray the inside of the pan with cooking spray. This will hep the parchment paper stick to the surface.

Step 4: Place the trimmed parchment paper inside the pan.

Step 5: Press the parchment into the bottom and up the sides of the pan, overlapping the corners as needed.

INSTRUCTIONS

The first step in making this fudge is to get parchment paper in your baking dish. I recommend using an 8 x 8 inch dish for this recipe so that you will end up with thick pieces of fudge.

However, if you prefer thinner pieces, you can use a 9 x 11 baking dish instead. However, regardless of the pan we find it crucial to line the pan with parchment paper.

This makes it extremely easy to pull the fudge out of the pan for easy cutting after it has hardened. However the key to this step is to line the dish with parchment paper overlapping the edges of the dish so it comes out of the pan easily.

Then set the dish aside and now you are ready to make the fudge!

Add all the ingredients in a medium sauce pan over medium-low heat. Stir frequently until the butter and chocolate chips have completely melted.

Once the easy fudge mixture is nice and smooth, quickly pour it into the prepared pan. Then quickly use a silicone spatula and smooth it out as much as possible, pushing it into the corners as best you can.

The top will not be completely smooth, and that is okay. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours to let the fudge harden.

When it is nice and hard, remove the fudge brick by lifting up on the parchment paper. Cut into desired pieces. *Hint, when cutting, it is best to clean the knife between cuts so that the fudge doesn’t stick to the knife’s edges.

How To Store 3 Ingredient Fudge

Store the easy fudge pieces in an air tight container at room temperature or in the freezer. However, please note, you do not want to store it the refrigerator.

The fudge will dry out when stored in the refrigerator and tends to absorb the flavors of other food products that are stored in the same area. However you can freeze the fudge in an air tight container for longer storage.
