What You Need To Do Before Starting This Recipe

Before you get started making your No Bake Snickers Cheesecake, there is a little advanced planning that is required.

Bring Cream Cheese To Room Temperature

First you must bring the bar of cream cheese to room temperature. This typically takes about 30 minutes once you take it out of the refrigerator. However, there are a couple of shortcuts to make this process faster.

There are a couple of ways to bring a bar of cream cheese to room temperature faster than just leaving it on the counter. Here are two methods to consider:

1. Warm Water Bath:

  • Leave the foil wrapper on: No need to unwrap the cream cheese.
  • Warm water bath: Fill a bowl with warm water (not hot). The water should feel warm but not uncomfortable to the touch.
  • Submerge the cream cheese: Gently place the foil-wrapped cream cheese block into the warm water bath.
  • Soak for 10-15 minutes: Let the cream cheese sit in the warm water for about 10-15 minutes, or until it softens to the touch.
  • Flip occasionally: Every few minutes, gently flip the package over to ensure even softening.

Before making the no bake Snickers cheesecake filling you need to bring the block of cream cheese to room temperature.

2. Cutting the Cream Cheese

  • Unwrap and cut the cream cheese: Take the cream cheese out of the foil wrapper and cut it into small cubes or cubes.

Cutting the cream cheese increases the surface area, allowing it to soften faster than a whole block. This can be done after the warm water bath for even faster softening.

Tip: Don’t microwave cream cheese for extended periods. While it can soften cream cheese quickly, microwaving it unevenly can melt or cook the cream cheese, ruining its texture when making this no bake cheesecake recipe.

Thaw The Whipped Topping

You must also make sure that your whipped topping is completely thawed. Ideally this would be done by placing the frozen container in the refrigerator and let it thaw overnight.

However, if you are like me, sometimes I don’t plan that far in advance. Therefore place the frozen tub in cool water and let it thaw while the cream cheese comes to room temperature.

As much as you may be tempted, I don’t recommend thawing Cool Whip in the microwave for this recipe. This technique changes the consistency of the whipped topping, and can impact the overall texture of the cheesecake.

While the cream cheese and Cool Whip are thawing, it is a good time to chop the Snickers bars.

Best Way To Chop Snickers Bars

I have tried several methods of chopping the Snickers bars for this no bake cheesecake with varying success.

First, I tried to chop them in my food processor. This did not work well as the caramel stuck to the blades.

Then I attempted to use my Food Chopper. Again, the candy bar pieces stuck to the blades resulting in a mashed mess.

However when I froze the candy bars, they chopped easily with a sharp knife. Simply slice the cold candy bar in pieces in one direction, and then do the same in the opposite direction.

Once the bars are chopped, reserve the equivalent of one half of a candy bar for the topping.

When you don’t have time to bake: Since it is a no bake recipe, you can whip this up relatively quickly. This is ideal for those times when you don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen.

Summer gatherings: The no bake aspect makes it the perfect dessert in the summer. The creamy, cold cheesecake is a welcome and refreshing addition to any dinner on a hot day.

Anytime you want to indulge! Because really, sometimes you just deserve a delicious and satisfying treat.
