What Are Biscuit Bombs?

Biscuit Bombs are the latest craze in quick and easy snacks. Using canned refrigerator biscuit dough as a base, they’re filled with a variety of delicious ingredients.

The name suggests that the inside filling with give you an explosion of flavor when taking a bite. However the key here is to get the perfect ratio of biscuit dough to filling.

Rather than using an entire biscuit it is best to split each biscuit in half, creating a thinner outer shell. This will ensure that the biscuit dough cooks faster and the filling will remain nice and hot.

The Benefits Of Cooking With An Air Fryer

Although you could make these Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bombs in the oven, it is much faster to make them using your air fryer. In addition, by using an air fryer you won’t have to heat up the kitchen on a hot summer day.

These small, countertop appliances work by circulating hot air around the food. This not only helps the food to cook evenly but it also speeds up the cooking time compared to a conventional oven.

The first step to make this recipe is to separate each biscuit into two layers.

The Keys To Making Air Fryer Biscuit Bombs

Making Biscuit Bombs is a straightforward process, but there are a few keys to getting them to turn out just right. As mentioned above you must first split each biscuit into two pieces.

1. Separate Each Biscuit Into Two Pieces – Do this by pulling back the top and bottom layers to get two even pieces. Then flatten each biscuit with the palm of your hand or with a rolling pin for even cooking.

2. Avoid Overfilling – Although you may be tempted to add a lot of filling to each biscuit, it is best to not overfill them. Adding too much sloppy joe mixture and you risk the biscuit bombs from leaking as they cook in the air fryer.

3. Add Cheese – Adding a little shredded cheese will help seal the biscuit dough and also help keep the filling from soaking through the biscuit.

4. Pinch The Seams – You must pinch the seams of the biscuits well so that the filling doesn’t ooze out.

5. Apply an Egg Wash – If you want for a beautiful golden finish be sure to brush the biscuit

6. Flip – In order to get both sides evenly brown it is best to flip them half way through the cooking process.

7. Allow Them To Rest – One the Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bombs come out of the air fryer allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving as the fillings will be hot!

Cook Time Required

Depending on the brand and style of your air fryer these biscuit bombs will take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes for them to cook up to perfection. And depending on the size of your basket you may need to work in two batches to get them all cooked.

How To Store & Reheat Air Fryer Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bombs

If you find yourself with any leftovers let them cool to room temperature. Then store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

To reheat, place them back in the air fryer set at 350°F for a few minutes until heated through. Or reheat them in the microwave for 20-30 seconds until heated through.

You can even make them ahead of time and freeze them for a quick treat whenever the craving hits.
