Be sure to tenderize the cube steaks before searing them in the skillet so they turn out nice and tender.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CUBE STEAK AND GRAVY

In a small bowl add the meat seasoning ingredients and mix until well incorporated. Set aside.

In a medium size bowl whisk together the cornstarch and beef broth until smooth. Next, add the onion powder and garlic powder. Then, add Worcestershire sauce and whisk until incorporated. Set aside.

Next, place the cube steaks on a large cutting board. Then place plastic wrap over top of the steaks. Use the rough end of a meat tenderizer and pound the steaks 4-5 times each.

Next, rub the meat seasoning over both sides of the steaks. Then sprinkle the flour over both sides to cover the seasoning. Set aside.

Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large skillet placed over medium-high heat. Then once hot add the steaks and cook for 3 minutes. Flip and add the additional oil if needed and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove the steaks from the skillet.

Prepare The Gravy

Reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet. Once the butter melts deglaze the bottom of the pan with a wooden or silicone spatula to remove any stuck bits.

Then add the sliced onions to the melted butter and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook the onions, stirring frequently until caramelized (approximately 20 minutes).

Add the gravy mixture to the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Also once it comes to a boil, reduce to a simmer.
