The Tater Tot Name
Tater Tots are a popular brand name for small, cylindrical potato croquettes made from grated and deep-fried potatoes. Created by the Ore-Ida company, these bite-sized treats have become a staple in American households.
Other brands have similar products, often called potato puffs, potato gems, or potato rounds, but Tater Tots remain the most recognized name in the market. However, any of the brands will work just fine for this recipe.
Best Type of Bacon To Use
Choosing the right bacon is key to mouthwatering Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots. Opt for regular slices that aren’t too thick or thin, ensuring the perfect balance of crispiness and flavor without overpowering the Tater Tots.
If you prefer center-cut bacon, keep in mind that you’ll need more slices, as you’ll only get two pieces from each one instead of three like regular bacon. And to add a unique twist to the dish, experiment with different bacon flavors such as applewood, hickory, maple, or even peppered bacon.
The choice of bacon can truly transform the taste experience of your Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots, so don’t be afraid to try various options to find your favorite combination.
Bacon Wrapped Tater Tot Recipe Additions
Feel free to get creative with this recipe by adding your own twists on the ingredients. Some ideas include rolling the bacon-wrapped Tater Tots in brown sugar before baking for a sweet and savory treat.
Or another creative recipe addition is to brush them with barbecue sauce halfway through the cooking process for an extra smoky and flavorful treat.
However one of my other favorite ways to add more flavor to the dish is to sprinkle cheese on the slices of bacon before wrapping it around the tater tots. The sharp tanginess of the cheese pairs well with potatoes and bacon.
Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots Dipping Sauce
The beauty of Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots lies in their versatility when it comes to dipping sauces. A wide array of options can compliment and enhance the flavors of these tasty treats.
Classic choices like ketchup and mustard always work well, but why not elevate the experience with more adventurous options? Consider tangy sour cream and chives, zesty spicy mayo, a sweet and savory honey mustard, or a creamy ranch dressing.
If you’re feeling bold, try a smoky barbecue sauce, a zingy horseradish sauce, or even a cheesy queso dip. The possibilities are endless! So have fun experimenting with different dipping sauces to discover the perfect match for your Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots.
Advantages of Making This Recipe In The Air Fryer
Using an air fryer to make Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots offers several advantages. Air fryers cook faster, reducing the overall cooking time. And cooking in an air fryer won’t heat up the kitchen on a hot summer day.
Additionally, air fryers are known for their ability to achieve a crispy exterior without sacrificing the moist and tender interior, resulting in perfectly cooked Tater Tots every time. If you have an air fryer, be sure to check out all my Air Fryer Recipes.
