Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 onion (diced)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 1/2 TBSP brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 TBSP Dijon Mustard
  • 1 1/2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 15 oz tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Add beef to a large skillet placed over medium-high heat. Cook until brown, breaking apart into crumbles as it cooks, about 5 minutes. Transfer to colander to drain.
  2. To the same skillet add bell pepper and onion and cook 3-4 minutes, until soft. Stir in salt, pepper and garlic powder and then add ground beef back to the skillet.
  3. Stir in tomato paste until well incorporated.
  4. Add water, brown sugar, chili powder, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce.  Stir well to combine.
  5. Cook over MED heat for 10-15 minutes, until mixture has thickened to your liking.  Remove from heat and serve over toasted buns.
